Dolce & Gabbana – Milan Fashion Week

Milan fashion week had some eye catching moments from Versace channeling the 90s ‘Rock & Chic’ look to Gucci staging an artistic and surreal show with an operating theatre and models walking holding dragons and replicas of their own heads.

Even with the Gucci spectacle, the highlight had to be Dolce & Gabbana shows. Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce went all out. The iconoc duo did not do just one, but THREE fashion shows; #DGSecretDiamonds #DGFashionDevotion and #DGAlltheLovers

#DGSecretDiamonds was an ode to a woman’s best friend, diamonds. Models walked the show in gowns and pieces covered in diamonds. There was sparkle everywhere, from jewellery to crowns signifying the #DGRoyals. Music included Shirley Bassey’s Diamonds are Forever and of course, the biggest fashion and music icon, Rihanna’s Diamonds.

#DGFashionDevotion turned out to be a tribute to the love of fashion from the designers.  T-shirts had graphics printed “D&G Devotion” and “Fashion Sinner”; there were larger than life sunglasses; a few church influences as well seen in shirts with priest collars and t-shirts with lace veils. Domenico Dolce said this about the collection: ”Fashion is not work, fashion is devotion… You live, sleep and eat with fashion, you never stop thinking about it and you love it with all your heart”.

It was a look at fashion’s past, present and future. Drones, yes, DRONES were carrying handbags on the catwalk. Stefano Gabbana called it ”… a new style to present the #FUTURE… an iconic moment for me. I’ll never forget it” . Talk about ground-breaking!
